We are actively protecting, restoring, and transforming a region that has been degraded over hundreds of years.
Human activity has been responsible for most of the degradation and we are reversing the course.
Context is Critical.
You don’t plant a cactus in the arctic!
As science continues to inform us, we adopt that learning and evolve our practices to best support our environment.
We actively protect high conservation areas such as the morichales and riparian areas. By protecting the savannas from fire, we facilitate their regeneration.
Where appropriate, we will be restoring native species of trees in the boundary areas between the riparian zones and the high savanna.
We transform unproductive high savanna into commercial forest areas that create jobs and economic support for the region and provide revenue to support our activities and attract like-minded investors.

Forest First Colombia:
A Scalable Nature-Based Solution to Wildfire-Driven Land Degradation, Climate Risk, and Ecosystem Collapse
We carefully balance our conservation activities, to improve the Vichada ecosystem, and our commercial activities to generate sufficient revenue to ensure true sustainability.
Our revenue streams include the sale of carbon credits representing long term sequestration of CO2, the sale of biomass to the local community for biofuel for electricity generation, replacing diesel, and the sale of lumber products to meet the growing needs of the Colombian economy and to replace costly and highly polluting imports.
Our forests are FSC® (FSC®-C167272) certified.

Right from the start, our goal has been to make a positive impact on the communities and environment where we operate. This goal requires us to build a model that is sustainable – socially, environmentally, and economically. That’s why we are committed to taking a bold approach to continuous learning.
